Grameen FundF is dedicated to promoting, managing and financing various enterprises, which aim to create wealth for ultimate poverty alleviation.

Vission of Grameen Fund

Grameen Fund, like other members of Grameen Bank's family of enterprises, is dedicated to poverty alleviation in Bangladesh. It emphasizes on providing finance to ventures that are risky, technology-oriented and otherwise deprived of financing from the existing formal letsding institutions In this pursuit, this company abides by the following principles:

  • To promote utilization of natural and human resources of the country and create a linkage between the rural community with the modern business expertise for enhancernent of rural incomes
  • To create and hold lucrative assets in the form of shares and debentures in the GF-financed companies, and to pool them in the Mutual Fund and Bonds for redistribution among the rural poor (Grameen Bank members) to enable them to possess and save as part of a social welfare net
  • To create high-tech companies for value-added export business.
  • To alleviate rural poverty and to elevate those ready to receive risk capital for self-employment
  • To create rural franchise chains, particularly in the Information Technology sector.

Objectives:

In line with the foregoing vision, the major objectives of the Grameen Fund are to:

Provide equity in companies trying to innovate in various sectors that hold promise for future growth which would have a direct or indirect impact on poverty alleviation, with preference for businesses specializing in information and communications technologies and bio-engineering.

Provide loans, equity or both, to risky ventures using untested products, both to new companies or existing companies for balancing, modernization or expansion.

Assist in management buy-ins or buy-outs of existing companies requiring financial and management support, provided that such companies' activities or products bring direct or indirect benefits to the poor.

Promote or develop enterprises having prospects for export or import substitution that will use indigenous raw materials, provide extensive employment to the rural poor or help upgrade the skills of the rural or urban poor.
